I thought I'd post a few photos that were taken yesterday in La Janda. The rainfall has been such that the area known as La Janda has returned to it's natural wetland state. You can see for yourself that the main collector canal (Río Almodovar) has risen to over the top and the flood waters have covered the whole of the agricultural area. The drainage tunnels which were illegally built under the main N 340 road and into the military zone, connecting to the Río Barbate and eventually the sea, just couldn't cope with the deluge. At the mouth of the Río Barbate, the silt that has poured out of the La Janda and other areas has turned the sea brown from Barbate to Zahara de Los Atunes.
Tragically, the bodies of two young men were found on the beach at the weekend, presumed drowned after getting into difficulties in a small boat.
Meanwhile more rain came with continued ferocity in the early hours of this morning as shipping in The Strait continued, whether business or pleasure!

The Duc de Jamon has benn birding with his particular friend Stephanos and he mostly enjoyed the Spanish Sparrows and the marmot. Will this stand?
